Finland’s National TV Station, YLE, approached us with a unique and complex challenge: to create hyper-realistic, large-scale weather simulations for their broadcasts. They needed to visualize complex meteorological phenomena that had never been professionally rendered before, showcasing the vast differences in scale and measure—from delicate cloud formations to massive storm systems. The goal was to deliver scientifically accurate yet visually stunning weather graphics that could captivate a national audience.

To meet YLE’s demanding requirements for quality and scale, we engineered a robust solution centered around NVIDIA Omniverse. By integrating Omniverse with industry-leading tools like Houdini, Enbergen, and Unreal Engine, we built a powerful pipeline capable of producing high-quality, massive-scale weather simulations.
Our journey with Omniverse began with the search for a cloud-based, collaborative video editor. Its ability to produce controlled, visually pleasing animations was immediately apparent in our initial commercial work with Reallusion CC characters. For the YLE project, Omniverse’s real-time collaboration and rendering capabilities were indispensable. It allowed our team to meticulously craft the structure and color of the clouds, ensuring that the lighting behaved with absolute realism to satisfy the client’s detailed vision.
The Outcome: A Groundbreaking Leap in Broadcast Graphics
The results were nothing short of spectacular. The quality of the cumulus and storm clouds rendered in Omniverse Composer was breathtaking, setting a new standard for broadcast weather visualization. The client and the entire team were blown away by the realism and fidelity of the final simulations.
